HONORING THE NATIVE LANDSCAPE TO BUILD THE FUTURE OF THE ENVIRONMENT

OVERVIEW

PROJECT

I designed Nativescapebrand and non-profit organization that builds virtual kiosks in nurseries and water/environmental government buildings.

My goal for this project is to create a software application that educates & helps users find suitable native plants for purchase.

Nativescape serves as a campaign & a call for action to support native landscape sustainability, defeat the ongoing drought and help fight climate change.

result

Results would show an increase in awareness about native plants and landscapes. During project development, success metrics through testing/ iteration will show an increase in overall user engagement and ease of use over time.

impact

My project is an innovative solution, system, and strategic approach toward landscape restoration.  My efforts push forward sustainability and conservation for our environment's natural beauty.

BUSINESS GOAL

The business benefit from the software will be the communication and relationship between the customers, users, and those who provide services in nurseries, government agencies, environmental health and the gardening/ landscaping industry.

PRODUCT GOAL

The product aims to make it easier to find suitable native plants for gardening. My goal is to leverage technology and bring humans to manifest a sustainable and beautiful landscape.

Moving Forward

REFLECTIONS

Next Steps-

  1. Create a prototype so users can interact with the simulation.
  2. After prototyping, test with more users for more insights and data to reach success.

What I learned-

  1. As part of interface design, the home page should communicate to users what the product does and why they should care.
  2. Storytelling is key! Users are more likely to stay and engage with a product when they are compelled by stunning design.
